Meg Ross, Butterflies, Monkeys, and Chapel Teacher

May 11, 2017

Meg and her husband Bruce are both originally from California. Bruce is retired from the Navy, and so they lived in many different places during his career including six years in Japan.  They have two boys (ages 27 and 25) and two girls (ages 20 and 15).  Their family also includes their dog Yuki.  They moved to Virginia in 2004 and are active members of Burke Presbyterian Church.

Meg has been on staff at BPC Preschool since 2010. Her youngest daughter, Kaitlyn (who is now in high school), went to BPC Preschool.  She was in the same “old” three and “old” four class as Jennifer Tisler’s son and Sue Hyjek’s son.

Meg loves to sew, smock, and do hand embroidery.  Her children all wore smocked clothes…even to preschool. Meg also loves the beach and enjoys working in Children’s Ministry.  It is something she has done everywhere she lived.

In addition, Meg volunteers as the Costume Mistress for the Virginia Ballet Costume which means she gets to work with wonderful young people as she gets their costumes ready for performances.  It is an experience that has really expanded her sewing (and dance world) knowledge.

She also LOVES children’s books!  It is hard for her to choose a favorite. Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Mama Do you Love Me by Barbara M. Joosse are special since she has fond memories of reading them to her children.  She also loves Mo Willem’s Elephant and Piggy books.

Meg’s favorite thing about teaching is that children ask great questions and often make the most profound observations.  She enjoys talking and listening with them.  They also give great hugs.
